Overview

This trade aims to enable trainees to obtain the competencies required for performing electrical tasks such as applying safety rules and regulations; using and maintaining hand tools; handling and storing electrical and solar materials; measurements and calculations, apply and demonstrate knowledge in all aspects of the electrotechnology environment and others.

What do Electrical and Solar Installers do?
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, circuit diagrams, and electrical codes.
  • Plan wiring system layouts and installations
  • Cut, thread, bend, assemble and install conduits and other electrical conductor coverings
  • Pull wire through conduits and holes in walls and floors
  • Install, replace and repair electrical and solar equipment such as lighting fixtures, circuit breaker panels, fuse boxes, heaters, signs, switchboards, solar panels, and accessories.
  • Splice, join and connect wires to fixtures and power sources
  • Troubleshoot, identify and repair faults in electrical & solar systems and equipment as well as test electrical flow to assess safety of circuits.
